Assyrians

Hebrew: אשורים

An indigenous people of Mesopotamia, speaking modern dialects of Aramaic and mostly belonging to the Church of the East, the Chaldean Catholic Church and the Syriac Orthodox Church. They survived the Arab conquest as a taxed minority, were destroyed in the Sayfo genocide of 1915, and were driven from the Nineveh Plain by Islamic State in 2014.
