Quran, Hadith, Sharia

The Quran is Islam’s scripture, believed to be God’s words to Muhammad. The Hadith are later reports of what Muhammad said and did, graded by reliability. Sharia is the body of religious law drawn from both, plus centuries of jurisprudence. Much of what people argue over, jihad, blasphemy, the status of non-Muslims, comes from the hadith and sharia, not the Quran alone.
