Hudna vs Peace

A hudna is a temporary tactical truce in Islamic tradition, not a permanent peace. The model is Muhammad’s Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, a ten-year pact he set aside when he was strong enough. When Hamas offers a ‘hudna,’ it is offering a pause to rearm, not recognition or an end to the conflict.
