How Wikipedia frames it today

• The Aleppo offensive of November-December 2016 was the campaign in which Syrian government forces, backed by Russia and Iran, retook rebel-held Aleppo. Through 2020 the opening’s own short description labeled it a massacre in Aleppo. Today that same line calls it a battle in Aleppo, though the word massacre survives 18 times in the body. A reader arriving now learns this was labeled a battle at the top of the article, and not what an earlier snapshot called it, a massacre.
