Maronites

Hebrew: מארונים

An Eastern Catholic church of Lebanon, in communion with Rome, named for the 4th-century monk Maron. They were the plurality of Lebanon at independence and the reason the presidency is reserved for a Christian, and their share has fallen sharply through the civil war and emigration.
