Mizrahi Jews

Jews indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa, Iraqi, Yemenite, Persian, Egyptian, Moroccan and more, with a continuous regional presence for over 2,000 years (Jews lived in Iraq from the 6th century BCE). After 1948 some 850,000 were expelled or fled Arab and Muslim lands, most of them to Israel. With Sephardi Jews they make up around half of Israel’s Jewish population, which is why “Israel is a European-colonial implant” collapses: most Israeli Jews are Middle Eastern, often refugees from the very countries that now call them foreign.
