Einsatzgruppen

Nazi mobile killing squads that followed the German army into the occupied Soviet Union from 1941, shooting Jews and others into mass graves at the edges of their own towns. They murdered roughly 1.5 to 2 million Jews, the “Holocaust by bullets” that ran alongside the gas chambers.
