North Kamrup violence: what Wikipedia removed

A series of violent clashes in Assam, India in January 1980, tied to the Assam Movement, in which most victims were Bengali-speaking Muslim (Miya) villagers and the Army was alleged to have committed atrocities against Assamese villagers. Through the 2020 snapshot, the opening named the event the North Kamrup massacre, describing it as part of the Bongal Kheda movement. Today the opening calls it the North Kamrup violence and carries the word massacre nowhere in it, though massacre survives five times in the body. A reader arriving now learns this was a series of violent incidents, and not that Wikipedia’s own opening once named it a massacre.
