Pnei Kedem is an Israeli outpost in the West Bank considered illegal even under Israeli law. The 2015 opening reported that settlers there ‘receive “counterterrorism training” from the organization Mishmeret Yesha in “how to quickly neutralize terrorist infiltrators.”’ Today’s opening says nothing about this training, though the word survives once in the body. A reader today does not learn that residents of the outpost describe themselves as trained against terrorist infiltrators.

What was taken out
