An ancient Jewish head-scarf, recorded in the Mishnah and worn for two millennia (into modern times among Yemenite Jews). After the Arab conquest, dhimmi dress codes barred Jews from such head-coverings, which makes the charge that Jews “appropriate” the keffiyeh exactly backwards.
