Iraqi Islamic Party ( Hizb al-Islami al-Airaqi ), a Sunni political party in Iraq . The party was founded in 1960 . It evolved out of the Muslim Brotherhood movement. It was clandestine during the Saddam Hussein years. The party general secretary is Dr. Mohsen Abdel Hamid , also spelled “Mohsin Abd al-Hamid”. After the invasion of Iraq , IIP joined the U.S. -appointed government. On November 9th 2004 , during the attack of U.S. -led forces on Falluja , IIP withdrew its support to the government. The sole minister of the party, Hajim Hassani, chose to stay in the government and quit the party.
