2008–2009 Oslo anti-Israel riots: what Wikipedia removed
The 2008-2009 Oslo riots saw mobs in Norway attack Jews and Jewish-associated targets during the Gaza War. The 2010 opening compared the riots to Norway’s wartime past, saying “during World War II, when anti-Semitic prejudices were strong, public policies were discriminatory… even then, Norway had not seen anti-Jewish outbursts of this scale.” Today’s opening drops that comparison, and protesters’ chants of “Death to the Jews” and “Kill the Jews” are also gone from the opening, though antisemitism survives 11 times in the body. A reader today does not learn that Wikipedia’s own opening once called these Norway’s worst antisemitic riots on record, or what protesters were recorded chanting.
