Homeland for the Jewish people: what Wikipedia removed

This article covers the idea of a homeland for the Jewish people, the movement now known as Zionism. Through 2010 the opening said the idea rose to the fore in the 19th century in the wake of growing anti-Semitism and Jewish assimilation. Today the word does not appear anywhere in the article, and the opening instead traces the aspiration to religious redemption since the destruction of the First Temple.
