• The Olmert Offer (2008) On 16 September 2008 Israel’s prime minister offered Mahmoud Abbas a Palestinian state on the equivalent of all the West Bank, a capital in East Jerusalem, no Israeli sovereignty over the Old City, and the return of thousands of refugees. Abbas took a tracing of the map home and never gave an answer.
