King David Hotel Bombing

The 1946 bombing by the Irgun of the hotel wing that housed the headquarters of the British Mandate government and army in Jerusalem. Warning calls were phoned in to clear the building; they went unheeded, and 91 people died. A strike on a military and administrative target, disputed in how it was carried out, not a planned massacre of civilians.
