Seku Amadu: what Wikipedia removed

Seku Amadu was the Fulbe scholar who founded the Massina Empire in the Inner Niger Delta in 1818. Through 2010 the opening described how, “Inspired by the recent uprising of Usman dan Fodio… Seku Amadu led his followers in a jihad against the then-dominant Bambara Empire in 1818.” Today the opening says only that he “ruled as Almami from 1818,” carrying neither the word nor the campaign, though jihad appears twelve times elsewhere in the article. A reader today does not learn that Amadu founded his empire by waging jihad against the Bambara Empire.
