Mordechai Maklef: what Wikipedia removed

Mordechai Maklef, later the third Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, survived the 1929 Arab Uprising by escaping an attack that killed the rest of his family at their home in Motza. Through 2005 the opening said he “managed to escape the massacre by jumping from a second story window.” Today’s opening carries no mention of the attack at all, though massacre survives three times in the body. A reader arriving now learns his military and corporate career and not that he escaped the massacre of his own family as a child.

The word “massacre” appeared 1 times in this article’s opening at its peak, in 2005. Today the opening carries none; the body carries 3. Checked against the full current article on 2026-08-01.
