Darul Islam is an Islamist group in Indonesia whose offshoot waged a terrorism campaign in the 1970s and 1980s. Through 2010 the opening said there were occurrences of ‘Islamic’ terrorism attributed to a group known as Komando Jihad. Today the opening describes the group’s 1942 founding and its goal of imposing Shari’a law, with the Komando Jihad terrorism campaign gone from the opening though terrorism survives four times in the body. A reader today learns the group’s founding aims and does not learn from the opening that it produced a terrorism campaign decades later.
