Ten Commandments

Hebrew: עֲשֶׂרֶת הַדִּבְּרוֹת

The Aseret HaDibrot, the “Ten Words” given at Sinai (Exodus 20). In Jewish counting the first is a declaration (“I am the LORD your God”), and the sixth reads lo tirtzach, “do not murder,” not “do not kill.”
