The Nazi euphemism for the planned total extermination of Europe’s Jews. Coordinated at the Wannsee Conference in January 1942, it turned scattered persecution and mass shootings into an industrial system of death camps. The bureaucratic blandness of the phrase was itself a tool of concealment.
