Through 2020 the opening said “Islamist militants of the far-right Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) attacked a district where predominantly Alevi Turkish citizens live.” Today the opening calls the perpetrators “Turkist ultranationalists,” and militant appears zero times anywhere in the article. A reader arriving now does not learn that the attackers were described as Islamist militants, only that they were nationalists.
