Sonderkommando
The prisoners, mostly Jews, forced under threat of death to work the gas chambers and crematoria, emptying and burning the bodies. Four photographs they secretly took at Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1944 are among the only images of the killing in progress, and a standing answer to denial.
