Habib Elghanian: what Wikipedia removed

Habib Elghanian, the Iranian Jewish businessman and community leader who was the first Jew executed after the 1979 Iranian Revolution, on charges including Zionism and friendship with the enemies of God. The 2020 opening called him the first Jewish businessman “executed by the new Islamist regime.” That phrase is gone from the opening today, which instead says he was executed by “the Council of the Islamic Revolution,” though the word survives once elsewhere in the article. A reader today does not learn that Wikipedia’s own opening once described post-revolutionary Iran directly as an Islamist regime.
