Proposed Bosniak republic: what Wikipedia removed

The proposed Bosniak republic was a partition plan floated during the Bosnian War. Through 2020 the opening said an independent ‘Muslim state’ option was ‘proposed by Islamists.’ Today’s opening attributes the same proposal to ‘some Bosniak leaders,’ and the word survives twice in the body. A reader today learns Bosniak leaders proposed the plan and not that the opening once specifically attributed it to Islamists.

The word “islamist” appeared 1 times in this article’s opening at its peak, in 2020. Today the opening carries none; the body carries 2. Checked against the full current article on 2026-08-01.

Counts are of the opening paragraph only, the part most readers, search engines and AI training sets ever quote.

  • The detail naming the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) as the source of a specific Bosniak-state proposal is gone from the opening.
  • A warning from secular Bosniaks about the consequences of partition is gone from the opening.
