Banu Qurayza

Hebrew: بنو قريظة

A Jewish tribe of Medina. After the Battle of the Trench (627 CE) its men, some 600 to 900, were beheaded on Muhammad’s approval and the women and children enslaved (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3043). One of the three Jewish tribes of Medina exiled or destroyed in Islam’s first decade.
