Michael Zehaf-Bibeau fatally shot a Canadian soldier at the National War Memorial before storming Parliament Hill’s Centre Block, an attack the RCMP classified as a terrorist act. From 2015 through October 2023 the opening said Zehaf-Bibeau had previously expressed support for jihadists and others in the Middle East resisting the West’s intervention. The word jihad does not appear anywhere in the article today. A reader today does not learn that the shooter had expressed support for jihadists before the attack.
